Report NASIG 2025
On the sidelines of the North Africa IGF’s annual meeting (NAIGF-25), The North Africa School on Internet
Governance Forum (NASIG-25) was generously hosted by Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative
Reform of the Kingdom of Morocco, from 21–23 November 2025 at the Rive Hotel in Rabat.
The NASIG-25 aimed to enhance knowledge and develop participants’ skills on Internet governance,
preparing them for effective participation in national, regional, and global Internet governance processes .
This year the program focused on two main tracks, Foundations and Regional Realities, which introduced
the core concepts of the evolution Internet governance, international and regional structures, multistakeholder
participation mechanisms, and how to ensure effective engagement. It also explored the
impact of digital governance on economic development and the opportunities provided by digital
transformation in the region . Second tack, focused on Artificial Intelligence, Security, Rights, and
Infrastructure addresses the ethics and applications of emerging technologies, digital sovereignty, data
localization as a pillar of digital security, and evolving cybersecurity threats in North Africa. It also covered
the digital identity, trust frameworks, and their role in supporting reliable digital systems, along with digital
content issues including users’ rights and responsibilities.
In addition, the program emphasized the
principles and practical approach of the multistakeholder
model, highlighting effective
mechanisms for cooperation among
governments, the private sector, civil society,
the technical community, and academia.
Through interactive discussions and practical
exchanges, participants explored ways to
enhance inclusive collaboration and contribute
to a resilient and sustainable digital ecosystem.
NASIG-25 featured a diverse set of training
sessions delivered by distinguished regional
and international experts and academics.
